Make-up artists Portfolio Building Photoshoots
Maybe you are just getting started, or maybe you have been working as a makeup artist for quite some time but are just starting to get out there and show people your work.
If you are serious about getting involved in a career in makeup artistry, then you need to have a portfolio.
You can tell people that you are a makeup artist all day long, but until you start putting together a solid portfolio, people will be asking to see proof of your work.
If you are trying to attract clients then being able to show them pictures of your work will help them to understand and trust in your abilities.
Surprisingly however, very few makeup artists take the time to create a good portfolio and therefore suffer the consequences by losing potential work. Having a portfolio will put you a step above the many competitors in your market.
A makeup artistry portfolio is a compilation of your best work in a format that is easily accessible to those who are interested in looking at it.
Your portfolio can be in a hard-copy form such as a book or online which is more common today.
It is of utmost importance that your portfolio consists of photos taken by a professional so that the best aspects of your work can be highlighted, making use of clean backgrounds, correct lighting, sharp angles, etc to put the emphasis on the makeup, your hard work.
Our studio is in Waverley Pretoria which is very close to the highway so a breeze to get here. We are situated in a house within a safe suburb making for a relaxed environment to work in.
Bring your makeup and models and spend the day with us while we capture your work in a professional yet comfortable environment. The studio is open from 9am to 4pm and the kitchen is available for you to use as you wish.
You can apply just make-up, make-up and hair or if you are really wanting to push the envelope you can also do some styling of your model.
Create as many looks as you want to for the day. We will do a before and after picture of each look and can take as many photos as you require.
We can create images with studio lighting or with natural lighting as our studios are setup for both conditions.
We will work with you to get the look you are going for and we will not stop trying until you are satisfied.
We will supply images of every look on a disk, beautifully set out ready for print and upload to your website or social media page.
Keeping in mind a portfolio doesn’t have to feature fully-finished faces only as you can include close-up shots of eyes, lips and contouring that you’ve created along with polished whole looks. Adding these individual pieces can accomplish two goals:
1. It allows the viewer to see your technical skills up close, and
- It allows you to add to your portfolio more quickly than if you were to focus on full looks only.
So bring 1 model or bring 10! Just bring them so that we can make magic happen together!
