Chisomo joined her for the last part of the pregnancy, and together they wanted to capture this season in a timeless, elegant way before their little one made their grand entrance.

Silhouette maternity portraits are timeless — they highlight the beautiful curve of your bump in the most elegant way. We started Barbara’s session with a series of black & white silhouette images, followed by stunning solo portraits in a dramatic black maternity gown.
These shots are perfect for capturing that sense of strength and serenity that comes with late pregnancy.
Partner & Couple Portraits
Including your partner in the maternity session adds so much warmth and emotion to the gallery. Barbara and Chisomo’s connection was beautiful — romantic, joyful, and full of excitement for what’s ahead.

One of the standout looks from this session was the vibrant yellow gown, which brought so much energy and light to the shoot. We played with movement, swirling fabric, and soft studio light to create portraits that are both glamorous and full of life.

The ideal time for a maternity photoshoot is between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. Your bump is beautifully round by this stage, and you’re usually still comfortable to move and pose — the perfect balance for stunning images.
What should I wear for a pregnancy photoshoot?
You don’t need to worry — I provide a full client wardrobe of elegant maternity gowns, from form-fitted classics to dramatic flowing dresses.
- Mini Session: Includes 1 dress and fabric.
- Full Session: Includes 2 dresses and fabric.
You’re also welcome to:
- Swap one of the gowns for your own outfit or jeans.
- Wear only your own outfit if that’s more your style.
This flexibility ensures your session truly reflects you.
Can my partner and kids join the session?
Absolutely! Including your loved ones makes your maternity session extra special.
- Mini Session: Partner is welcome.
- Full Session: Partner + kids can join, and you’re also welcome to bring additional family members at R100 per person.
These are beautiful moments to celebrate together as a family.
How long does a maternity photoshoot take?
- Mini Session: ±30 minutes
- Full Session: ±60 minutes
The time may vary slightly depending on outfit changes and how many family members are involved. Each session is relaxed and carefully structured to make the most of your time in studio.
Where is your studio located?
My maternity photography studio is based in Waverley, Pretoria — easily accessible from the Moot area and major highways. The studio is fully equipped, warm, and private — perfect for your pregnancy session.
Do you provide the dresses?
Yes, all gowns are included in your session — there’s no need to rent or purchase anything separately. My client wardrobe features a wide variety of styles, colours and fits to suit different looks and moods.
Is hair and makeup included?
No, professional hair and makeup are not included in the session. However, don’t stress — if you prefer doing your own makeup, my editing style is soft, polished, and natural, so you’ll still look like you stepped out of a professional makeup artist’s chair ?
