Some of my favourite sessions are the ones that almost didn’t happen.
Nicole had planned her maternity photoshoot weeks in advance, but the morning of her session, everything seemed to go wrong — traffic delays, outfit changes, and even a quick dash for last-minute accessories. Just before we started, my main camera decided to take the day off (every photographer’s worst nightmare!).
But sometimes, the best moments come from a little chaos.
Nicole slipped into her traditional Indian sari, and the studio filled with colour, laughter, and calm. The result? Pure magic.
Nicole’s choice of a traditional Indian sari brought such richness and depth to the session. The fabric’s warm tones and intricate detail framed her growing bump beautifully, reflecting both her heritage and her joy as an expecting mom.
The studio lighting highlighted the soft shimmer of the fabric and her natural pregnancy glow — a stunning reminder that maternity portraits can be both timeless and deeply personal.
This entire session took place in my Pretoria photography studio, where I specialise in creating comfortable, elegant maternity portraits. Every setup, from the backdrop tones to the gentle poses, was chosen to enhance the sari’s beauty while keeping the focus on Nicole’s connection with her baby.
The studio is fully equipped with professional lighting, flowing fabrics, and a full maternity wardrobe for clients who prefer modern gowns — but I love when moms bring in cultural or sentimental pieces that tell their own story.
We focused on elegant studio poses that highlighted the beauty of Nicole’s sari — the delicate folds, the glowing fabric, and the love between the couple.
Every photo feels both modern and timeless, a perfect blend of tradition and contemporary style.
Nicole’s maternity photoshoot is part of our Bump-to-Bundle package, which includes both maternity and newborn sessions — allowing you to capture your journey from bump to baby.

Many moms say their maternity session helps them slow down and connect with their pregnancy before stepping into the newborn stage.
Every maternity photoshoot tells a unique story. For Nicole, it wasn’t just about the outfit or poses — it was about celebrating a new chapter while honouring her culture and strength as a woman.
When she saw her final images, her face lit up. She said the photos made her feel “strong, beautiful, and proud of who I am and where I come from.”
Moments like that are exactly why I love what I do.
Whether you’d like to wear a flowing gown or a traditional outfit that represents your culture, I’ll help you pose, feel confident, and capture the beauty of this special time.
