Baby Cua’s Newborn Photoshoot – A Timeless Look Back to 2014
Newborn photography has been close to my heart for many years, and every so often I like to look back at sessions that remind me just how quickly time flies. One of those special sessions was with baby Cua, all the way back in 2014. At the time, I had already been photographing newborns for a few years, but this shoot still stands out as one that taught me the importance of keeping things simple, natural, and baby-focused.
Although so much has changed in my studio since then — new props, new lighting equipment, updated editing techniques — one thing has never changed: the magic of capturing those first days of life. Baby Cua’s session is a perfect example of how timeless newborn photography really is.
Why Newborn Photography Is So Timeless
When I look at Cua’s gallery, I’m reminded that babies themselves never go out of style. Trends in photography may shift — certain props, poses, or editing styles come and go — but the beauty of a sleeping newborn curled up peacefully will always tug at the heart.
In 2014, we were already using cozy blankets, textured backdrops, and wooden props to create warm, natural images. Those same ingredients still form the foundation of newborn photography today. Parents don’t just want “cute” photos; they want to freeze this tiny, fleeting stage forever. Whether it’s 2014 or 2025, that goal will always stay the same.
A Glimpse Into the Session
Baby Cua’s parents had originally come to me for a maternity photoshoot, when they didn’t yet know the gender of their little one. Just a few weeks later, I had the privilege of welcoming them back into the studio, this time with their newborn son in their arms.
Cua was on the smaller side, which made him extra snuggly in the props. I remember how perfectly he fit in the little wooden cart we used, and how peaceful he looked curled up in the fluffy blankets. Looking back at those photos now, I’m struck by how natural and timeless they still feel — proof that simplicity in newborn photography never goes out of style.
How My Studio Has Grown Since 2014
Of course, so much has evolved since those early days. Back then:
- I had fewer props, wraps, and backdrops to choose from.
- My editing process was slower and less refined.
- I was still experimenting with different posing styles.
