From Bump to Baby — and Now One!
It feels like just yesterday we were capturing Nkanyezi’s parents during their maternity session. A few months later, he visited the studio again for his six-month sitter photos — full of chubby cheeks and bright smiles. And now, this milestone moment: his first birthday cake smash!
Watching my little clients grow through their first year is one of the greatest joys of being a Pretoria newborn and baby photographer. Every session tells a new part of their story — from tiny kicks to first giggles and now, cake-covered hands! ?
A Fresh, Natural Theme
For Nkanyezi’s cake smash, we went with a soft white and green setup featuring leafy greens, touches of nature, and a white mini piano — perfect for his calm and curious personality. The setup created a fresh, organic feel that photographed beautifully.
He started off exploring his cake like a little gentleman, then soon enough, those tiny hands got messy (as they should!). We finished with a splashy bubble bath cleanup, which brought the sweetest smiles.
Growing Together
What makes Nkanyezi’s journey so special is that I’ve had the honour of photographing him at every stage — maternity, sitter, and now his first birthday. I can’t wait to see him again next year for his two-year milestone. These sessions are not just photos; they’re little chapters of family history frozen in time.
